2 Ways Royal
2 Ways Royal
Most video poker players can count the number of times they’ve hit a royal flush on the fingers of one hand – and while that may well take a lifetime to change, you can still double your chances by playing Playtech’s 2 Ways Royal. A conventional video poker console in most other aspects, 2 Ways Royal stands out from the crowd due to the fact that it pays a top award for both A-K-Q-J-10 and 2-3-4-5-6 in the same suit, making it twice as likely that you’ll hit the 4,000x jackpot.
The rules of 2 Ways Royal are identical to those found on any other Jacks-or-Better video poker console. After selecting a wager, players are dealt five cards and must choose which ones to hold and which ones to discard. Anywhere between zero and five cards can be held, with all discarded cards being replaced by new ones in the second deal. The aim of the game is to make a pair of jacks or better, but the more valuable your poker hand, the more money you’ll receive as a payout.
There are two betting variables in 2 Ways Royal that control your total stake each game. The first are the plus and minus arrows on the left of the screen that can be used to select coin values of £0.05-£5.00. The second is the “bet one” button which, when pressed, will increase your coin amount up to a maximum of five. This makes the game playable from anywhere between £0.25 and £25.00 in total, with the higher payouts being reserved for players using the maximum amount of coins. Once a player’s five-card poker hand has been dealt, they simply have to click the cards that they wish to hold and hit “deal” to receive any replacements, with any pair of jacks or better awarding a prize. This prize can then be doubled or half-doubled by picking a higher card that the one displayed.
While it may seem a case of simply holding the face cards in your initial hand and hoping you pair up, the fact that progressively bigger payouts are awarded for stronger poker hands actually means the risk-reward balance is tilted in the favour of aiming big. While you may be more likely to pair one of your two face cards than hit a flush when four of a suit are showing, the fact that the latter hand is worth five times as much as the former means you should definitely take the risk.
Essentially 2 Ways Royal is the same classic Jacks-or-Better video poker title players know and love with a more accommodating payout system. As such, it is a slight enhancement on the conventional game that gives you twice as many ways to land the console’s top 4,000x prize – and that certainly can’t be a bad thing for those seeking to land their first royal flush.
