4-Line Deuces Wild
4-Line Deuces Wild
While a deuce might be pretty redundant in conventional Jacks-or-Better video poker, in 4 Line Deuces Wild they’re certainly the one card you want to see more than any other. The reason for this is that a deuce can substitute for any other card in your five-card holding, meaning four-of-a-kinds, straight flushes and even five-of-a-kinds are all increasingly possible. Couple this with the fact that players will have four lines to make at least one qualifying hand on every deal and you really do have a game where the scope for strategy is virtually limitless.
4 Line Deuces Wild plays like most other video poker titles apart from the fact that as twos can substitute for any other card, the bar for qualifying hands is set a notch higher. This means that players will need at least three-of-a-kind to claim a payout, but other than they’ll still receive five cards and have to choose which ones to hold just like in a normal game. As a four-hand title, every card that players choose to hold will be replicated on every line, with an individual second draw then taking place on each one to determine your final five-card hand.
Just like in most of Playtech’s video poker titles, players can control both their coin value and coin amount in 4 Line Deuces Wild to determine the total cost of each deal. With the former ranging from £0.01-£5.00 and the latter running from 1-5, the game can be played from between £0.04 and £100.00 per turn, with the highest payouts only being available at the five coin level. As ever, players need only click the cards they want to keep and hit “deal” to receive their replacements on each line, and all winnings can be doubled or half-doubled in a card-picking game at the end of every deal.
Obviously the presence of wild deuces alters the strategy for 4 Line Deuces Wild significantly, but perhaps even more important is the fact that the console doesn’t pay out for pairs or two-pairs. Naturally, this means that holding small pairs instead of big face cards now becomes the norm as any deuce can also improve you to trips – while if you’re lucky enough to be dealt multiple deuces in your starting hand, you should always hold the card combination that gives you the most flexibility in terms of the number of high-value hands that it can make.
If you’re a Jacks-or-Better video poker player, 4 Line Deuces Wild will certainly come as a bit of a shock to the system; but once you’ve got your head around the strategic nuances that come with the higher qualifying threshold and the presence of substitute wilds, it’s an absolute blast. The main draw of the game is obviously when you get two or more deuces in your starting hand, as this can potentially create hugely valuable hands on each of your lines for enormous combination payouts.
